RACE REPORT
Although the field reached the post early, three false starts by Sunrise put paid to the race starting on time. Once it did get underway it was Sunrise who made the early running from Goldminer, Fairest Flower and Kentish Fire, an order which was maintained for the first 2 furlongs. At this point Fairest Flower dropped back to allow Sunrise the freedom to go on alone, although both Goldminer and Kentish Fire kept close tabs on him. At the top of the hill it was clear that Sunrise was in trouble, at which point Goldminer saw his chance and bounded clear. Turning for home, Kentish Fire drew alongside the leader and a good race ensued. At the distance Kentish Fire took command to win going away by an easy 4 lengths from Goldminer, with Delamont two lengths back in third, Fairest Flower was in fourth and Sunrise finished at the rear. |
